Hello,
 
 
Ladies and gentlemen, i have looked carefully to C++,
it is a nice programming language, but i have to be frank, the
difficulty that i have found is that i have implemented many projects
like my Parallel Archiver and Parallel Compression Library and Parallel
Sort Library etc. and i have invented many synchronization algorithms
like my SemaCondvar and SemaMonitor and my SeqlockX and my new
Distributed Reader-Writer Mutex etc. and as you have noticed i have done
it with Object Pascal and port them to the FreePascal and Delphi
compilers, and i can tell you that Object Pascal of FreePascal and
Delphi compilers is a beautiful and nice programming language also, so
now you understand me more, my question is then: where can i find all my
projects in C++ ? this is the sad reality, because i can not find them
in c++ and this is why i have choosen Object Pascal as programming
language, more than that you have seen me explaining to you yesterday
that Delphi and FreePascal compilers support the Strong Memory Model as
you find it on the x86 architecture , so that makes Sequential
consistency in concurrency less prone to errors, that's not the case
with languages like C++ that make Sequential consistency difficult to
reason about and more error prone since C++ support the weak memory
model , i think Java is the same as C++, so this is why i am happy with
Object Pascal that easy the thinks for me in the language and with it's
strong memory model support.

I need to include the same file in multiple locations. I used the following macro for the filename in a included header file:
 
#define LATEST_DECODE_METHOD "decodeVer14.h"
 
...
 
#include LATEST_DECODE_METHOD
 
and this worked fine in Microsoft Visual Studio 2005.
 
The variable is declared in an included source file itself which has the include file using the variable. So, this is an included
source code file including another source code file.
 
bool all_is_not_ok = false; // outer include file
...
all_is_not_ok = true; // inner include file
 
I just upgraded to Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 and am now getting an error on a variable declaration in the include file. But, I am
not getting an error when including the file. The error is:
 
1>c:\sample\decodever14.h(128): error C2065: 'all_is_not_ok' : undeclared identifier
 
Is including a file using a macro name not legal? Or am I running into a bug in MSVS 2012?

Ladies and gentlemen , finally i have implemented many projects,
and you can be more confident cause i think that all my projects
are stable and fast now, and as you have noticed, today i think i have
made my new scalable reader-writer mutex a stable version also,
so i think you can be confident with all my projects , try to look
also at my Parallel Archiver and my Parallel Compression Library, i
think i have made them really stable and really fast also... so
all in all i think i have finally attained my goal to make all my
projects stable and fast. And all my projects are freewares
that come with the source code, so if you want to port them to
other languages, please do it.

Any binary file larger than 20+ MB has trouble going through most email systems. Just about all of our clients like to email files
back and forth. We would have to rewrite our serialization code for files larger than 4 GB (our serialization code was first written
in 1991). I do have a 1.0 GB file for testing, it is probably 10 GB fully expanded.
 
We already have a builtin utility, zlib, for string compression already since we store large strings in our serialization file.

is about (2*$) of a current spinning disk, the SSD capacity is /4 smaller.

Good, gzopen() is part of zlib. There are also C++ wrappers like gzstream
for wrapping zlib as a standard iostream interface.
 
Serialized binary arrays often contain lots of zero bytes which can be
easily compressed.

To be pedantic, 2--100 times is more like it. I have fairly
frequently handled large files which contain useful information /and/
compress that well. E.g. periodic numerical samples, overly verbose
log files ...

Yes. It's my rule of thumb that defining a "bloated" file format and
then gzipping it is often better than trying to save bits in the file
format itself.

I agree - some of our stuff can produce diagnostic traces that tend to
compress very well, but the main redundancy is at a higher level than
you can easily deal with in the file format - the calling application
does the same thing over and over, each time with a very similar set
of calls, parameters and returns. General purpose compression on the
back end captures that nicely, while also providing an effectively
"dense" format for each trace entry. And since that's buried in the
low-level trace output code, there's no need to add the complexity of
a dense format to each program that produces a trace.
 
Of course when the compressed traces are multi-GB (as they
occasionally are), they still don't email well, so we have an FTP site
for the customers to upload those.

One should look at the following in a design mindset rather than an
implementation mindset:
 
What is a node, exactly?
What is a patch exactly?
Who creates a node?
Who creates a patch?
Who owns a node?
Who owns a patch?
Does anyone else ever have to call any methods or manipulate data on a node?
Does anyone else ever have to call any methods or manipulate data on a
patch?
What's the lifetime of a node?
What's the lifetime of a patch?
 
Answer all those questions being completely oblivious to whether you
will be passing by value, reference, pointer, or what kind of pointer,

This tends to suggest that it should probably be a unique_ptr rather than
a shared_ptr.
 
The patch owns the node. The node can't be created before the patch which
owns it. Destroying the patch will destroy the node (if it still exists).
 
shared_ptr is for the case when ownership isn't clear cut; when the object
needs to exist for as long as *something* references it and (ideally) no
longer than that, but there's no easy way of determining what could
reference it.

I have just read about avout this Asymetric Read Writer lock...

You will notice that he is doing a stupid thing , look at
the C header here:

He is allocating an array of uint8_t, that means of type of 8 bits, like
this in C:
 
uint8_t m_readers[MAX_RWLOCK_READER_COUNT];
 
 
And after that in his algorithm he is doing in the CRWLock::EnterRead()
this:
 
m_readers[t_curThreadIndex] = true;
 
 
and he is doing in CRWLock::LeaveRead() this:
 
m_readers[t_curThreadIndex] = false;
 
 
But this is stupid, because his array must be alligned on 64 bytes
and every element in his array must be of a size of a cacheline to
avoid false sharing.
 
I have taking care of that on my new algorithm of a scalable
reader-writer mutex the above problem of false sharing, and that is
sequential consistent and like in Seqlock or RCU , my new scalable
distributed reader-writer mutex doesn't use any atomic operations and/or
StoreLoad style memory barriers on the reader side, so it's very fast
and scalable..but you have to use the define's option TLW_RWLockX or the
define's option TRWLockX inside the defines1.inc file for that.
