Why not just "bite the bullet", and use a language that allows for an efficient use of the low-level primitives you are looking for? Fwiw, back in the day, when this type of stuff was not standard in C/C++, I had to create my own little abstractions via assembly language to get things to "work", using PThreads. Even then, disabling link-time optimizations for such highly sensitive constructs was considered prudent, afraid it can possibly screw up ones custom sync code. Here is an example: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!msg/comp.programming.threads/KepRbFWBJA4/pg83oJTzPUIJ (read entire thread, I am SenderX... ;^) http://webpages.charter.net/appcore/appcore/src/cpu/i686/ac_i686_masm_asm.html Now, C and C++ have standard memory order semantics, and various atomic types. We can build many things that take advantage of these primitives. So, basically, this custom asm code I created, is not really needed anymore. Now, at least its standard in the language as-is: Thank God! On a side note, I do not have access to C11 threading primitives in my compiler base, but C++ works like a charm... ;^) Also, read the posts created by Chris Vine over and over again, at least 41, perhaps even 42 times... |

He also changed his nym because he has realised that nobody reads his posts. Why Bonita is getting involved with him is beyond me. That guy has serious mental problems and you can see that he gets worked up with almost everything. The best thing is to filter him and the problem is solved once and for all. The more you respond to his posts, the more spam you are likely to get. At least change the follow up to Linux newsgroup <alt.os.linux> where all the spammers and jobless nutters hand out. |

Do you think survival is only doing just computer programming? this is a childish thinking, you have to be more mature... I have learned before Perl and network administration, i was a professional network administrator, and i have worked on network administration doing also Perl to automate Windows systems and Unix systems... i have worked as a network administrator for many companies, i am not just a computer programmer, i have also worked as a website designer for many compagnies using Perl, i was a professional programmer in Perl. You are kind of childish, i have worked also on parallel programming and parallel synchronization with a company that was designing a medical software with Visual Basic and they have asked me to parallelize some part of there system using Perl, and i have coded Dynamic Link Libraries with Delphi and i have used them from Perl to be able to parallelize there system.. and i have worked in many other companies because survival is survival Sir. Madsen and Win32::AdvNotify by Amine Moulay Ramdane. The latter is a bit more flexible, so we'll use it for our example in this section.
