近几年来，作为国家公祭日举办地、南京大屠杀发生地的主流媒体，江苏省广播电视总台（集团）连续推出了以南京大屠杀为题材的大型电视纪录片作品，2014年国家公祭日前后推出与央视联合制作的5集纪录片《1937南京记忆》，2015年国家公祭日前后推出10集纪录片《外国人眼中的南京大屠杀》,2016年国家公祭日期间推出了5集纪录片《幸存者——见证南京1937》。江苏省广播电视总台（集团）在"南京大屠杀"这一重大历史事件上的持续发声，取得了良好的社会反响和国际影响。
In recent years, as the mainstream media in the place where the National Memorial Day is held and where the Nanjing Massacre took place, the Jiangsu Broadcasting Corporation produced several great television documentaries on the theme of the Nanjing Massacre like the 5-episode The Nanjing Memory in 1937 which was coproduced with CCTV and broadcasted before the National Memorial Day in 2014, the 10-episode The Nanjing Massacre in the Eyes of Foreigners which was broadcasted before the National Memorial Day in 2015 and the 5-episode Survivors-Witness Nanjing in 1937 which was broadcasted before the National Memorial Day in 2016. The JSBC's work on the significant historical event has achieved great social responses and aroused international concerns.
2017年是南京大屠杀发生80周年，作为侵华日军南京大屠杀这一历史惨案发生地的主流媒体，为配合国家公祭日的整体宣传，江苏省广播电视总台（集团）与A+ E美国电视网络合作拍摄大型电视纪录片《南京之殇》，该片计划在 2017年12月13日南京大屠杀发生80周年国家公祭日之际在 A+E美国电视网络下属的历史频道美国区、亚洲区播出，并在江苏卫视同步播出。
The year 2017 marks the 80th anniversary of the Nanjing Massacre, as the mainstream media in the place where the Nanjing Massacre took place and in response to the activities related to the publicity on the National Memorial Day on December 13th, the Jiangsu Broadcasting Corporation plans to cooperate with the American A+E Networks to make the television documentary named Scars of Nanking. The documentary is scheduled to be broadcasted on December 13, 2017, which marks the 80th anniversary of the Nanjing Massacre on the American and Asian History Channel affiliated to the A+E Networks, and JSTV at the same time.
本片以完全西方人的视角和讲述方式，全景式展现在大屠杀中，20 多位西方人士坚守孤城，冒着生命危险救助和保护中国难民的故事。通过表现南京国际安全区的筹备、建立、运营，刻画残酷战争和血腥屠杀背景之下，人性中焕发出的正义光芒。
This documentary will give a panoramic display of the stories of the over 20 foreigners who chose to stay in Nanjing at the risk of their lives to help and protect Chinese refugees during the Nanjing Massacre. The stories will be told from the perspective of westerners in a western way. It will show the light of justice in humanity by telling the stories about the preparation, establishment and operation of the International Safety Zone with the cruel war and bloody massacre as the background.
为了同时适应西方媒体平台及国内平台的播出习惯，该片共由2个版本组成，包括1集美国播出版(剧情纪录片)、2集亚洲播出版（文献纪录片），每集45分钟。这将是关于南京大屠杀这一主题的纪录片首次在西方主流电视媒体的播出，尤其在南京大屠杀发生80周年的特殊时刻，意义重大。
To better serve the broadcasting customs of both the western and Chinese media, the documentary will consist 2 versions: 1-episode American version (Docu Drama), 2-episode Asian version(Documentary). Each episode lasts 45 minutes. This will be the first time ever that documentary on the theme of the Nanjing Massacre to be broadcasted on western mainstream media and it becomes more significant for foreign publicity at the time when it is the 80th anniversary of the Nanjing Massacre.

As a high-end real entertainment channel in America, the History Channel covers over 90 million households, making it one of the biggest cable channels in America.
此次合作，双方都派出了资深业务骨干力量，共同组成创作团队。A +E美国电视网络将派出纪录片《世界大战》的原班创作团队，包括导演约翰·伊勒、编剧弗莱德·瑞恩迪以及制作总监克里斯·汉弗莱等，团队获得过艾美奖等世界知名纪录片大奖；江苏广电将派出纪录片创作中心和国际事务部的资深编导和制片，团队曾获得过中国电视金鹰奖、星光奖及中国纪录片学术奖等荣誉。并聘请英文熟稔的南京大屠杀问题研究专家作为顾问全程参与制作。 As for this project, the production team includes senior personnel from both parties. The personnel from the A+E Networks will be composed of the original team which made the documentary The World Wars, including director John Ealer, scriptwriter Frederick Rendina and production director Chris Humphrey. Their team won many world-famous documentary awards with Emmy included. The JSBC sends senior producer directors and producers from the Documentary Production Center and the Department of International businesses, which won the Golden Eagle Award, China TV Star Awards, as well as China Documentary Academy Awards. What's more, experts on the Nanjing Massacre with fluent English will be invited as consultants during the whole process.
