I would rather Hodgin simply stop spamming his religious vomit and post
about C++ instead.

"Suppose it's all true, and you walk up to the pearly gates, and are
confronted by God," Bryne asked on his show The Meaning of Life. "What
will Stephen Fry say to him, her, or it?"
"I'd say, bone cancer in children? What's that about?" Fry replied.
"How dare you? How dare you create a world to which there is such misery
that is not our fault. It's not right, it's utterly, utterly evil."
"Why should I respect a capricious, mean-minded, stupid God who creates
a world that is so full of injustice and pain. That's what I would say."

Me too, but I don't think he can stop, even if he wanted to. It's as if he's been exposed to a severe demonic molestation which manifests itself as obsessive spanning of usenet.

Personally, I would rather /you/ left it. Rick's religious posts are
annoying, but the many fakes, impersonations, and totally tasteless and
inhumane comments about his mother are worse IMHO. And Rick does make
some on-topic posts - you contribute nothing but your hatred. I really
don't care what Rick may or may not have done to provoke you - please
take your unpleasantness elsewhere.

I always thought that *WAS* idiomatic use. Going back to K&R.

Why would anybody write

while ((c = fgetc (in)), c != EOF)

when they could write

while ((c = fgetc (in)) != EOF)
asetofsymbols@gmail.com: Jan 10 01:44AM -0800

"idiomatic use" is not
while ((c = fgetc (in)) && c != EOF)

It is
while((c=fgetc(in))!= EOF)...

The way you write it is by far more common; I've never seen the comma
operator separation of side effect and checking before this thread.

But they do the same, as opposed to the OP's variation it's just
notation this, and some might regard the first as more clear.

I think maybe such person might write `s[i] = f(); ++i;`, while you and
probably also I would write `s[i++] = f();`. Still I have written the
former, because of fear of enticing reader into the world of side-effect
expressions. It depends on who one imagines one communicates to I guess.

Cheers!,

To the best of my knowledge, this IS the idiomatic use. Using the comma
operator, which forces you to repeat the 'c', is not idiomatic.

Nit: I object to the space after fgetc because it disrupts visual flow.

When Jesus Christ takes a dump his shit undergoes inverse
transubstantiation turning into hot cinnamon buns. This should be proof

I think that applies to you, Rick :-) And I think the members of your church
realize that too. Stuff may be materializing inside your head, illusions of
being a great teacher, but I don't share that experience, I can't relate to
it, just as I don't share the great mathematician John Nash's experience that
aliens were trying to communicate with him through the New York Times
classifieds. These are things, I'm afraid, that are highly unlikely to be true, even if they seem real to you.

As Jesus said:

https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew+7%3A21-23&version=KJV

21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall
enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth
the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we
not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast
out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you:
depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Satan has entered the church and has people wrapped up in churchiosity,
and religion, and people move by rote in their own power, and not by
the spirit of God ... so much so that when men and women like me show
up teaching to really obey and teach about Jesus, we appear so far out
of the norm that we are shunned, mistreated, berated, called names,
cast out of circles, beaten, mocked, and more:

https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew+5%3A11-12&version=KJV

11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and
persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil
against you falsely, for my sake.
12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your
reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets
which were before you.

It has always been that way for the true servants of God. Even Jesus
Himself was rejected and accused of working by demon power, killed by
the very people He came to save.

Someday you will know the truth. I pray it's sooner rather than later.

Daniel, please don't reply again as it would be the same as hitting your
head against a brick wall. The stubborn unmovable obtuseness of Hodgin

Rick, your sentences remind me of Old Betsy, who lived in a small village
and said that if god had meant there to be gay people, he would have made Adam
and Steve rather than Adam and Eve. It was hard to argue with Old Betsy :-) But we live in the modern world, where arguments matter, reasons matter, research matters, and religious traditions are the subject of scholarly study.

It's about your sin and Jesus on the cross, Daniel.

You've been taught the truth. You will receive it or reject it.
Make it a wise choice.

You probably read my snippet about Old Betsy, and thought to yourself, "Old
Betsy makes sense." Just like one or two of the old villagers, with knowing
looks on their faces, nodding sagely to themselves. It's a way of thinking
that's past and done, there's new thinking pushing through, has been for a
few centuries. But there'll always be an Old Betsy, and I suppose, an Old Rick.

I still think you should listen to your pastor and the fellowship in your faith community. It seems to me your mind, perhaps like Old Betsy's, is fundamentally binary, either the old texts are in totality inerrant, or they're a complete hoax. Not being able to countenance the latter, you choose the former. But I think you'll find that most Christians have a more subtle and sophisticated, a more nuanced, a more modern, interpretation of the texts, as, of course, do many non-believers. Not everyone, of course, the proof of being Old Betsy.
"Rick C. Hodgin" <rick.c.hodgin@gmail.com>: Jan 10 08:18AM -0800

The primary teaching here is that we all have an appointment with death.
When will that death come? By what form? An accidental trip down a
staircase? A slippery patch of ice? A health issue like a heart attack
or stroke? Or a car accident? Hit by a bolt of lightning?

None of us know when we will die ... but all of us know we WILL die.

-----
The enemy tries to get us to focus only on this world, and the things
here in this world. But the things here in this world are temporal,
and fleeting, and they do not endure, and they are draped in sin and
hate and death and war and greed and all that goes with it.

What Jesus teaches us at the cross is that WE HAVE VALUE. That WE
ARE MORE THAN OUR FLESH. That HE LOVES US and WANTS US TO BE WITH
HIM IN HEAVEN.

-----
God is who God is: the author and finisher of all things.

Until each of us is looking up to Him in that recognition, knowing
truly that He is God and we are His creation ... then there is still
work to be done to educate the people of this fact ... because ...
their eternal soul is riding on that information.

-----
For those who are Christians, God needs to be elevated to the absolute
front of your life. He needs to be out ahead of every decision, every
action, every thought, every deed. We cannot go our own way and have
a correct and proper relationship with God. He must be the primary
and concluding factor in each of our choices, each of our goals. He
must be the reason why we breathe, the reason why we move, the reason
why we decide any thing.

Until that day comes there is work for each of us (Christians) to do.
And if the one to my right or my left falls down in so doing, then I
will pick up that flag and keep going. And if I fall down in so doing,
may my brother and sister take up the flag after I am gone and continue
on.

-----
Jesus Christ offers us everything. For free. Just for the asking.
And until people place value on that offer, our work here is not done.

To be fair they probably did that because England spent a lot of time

Religion was merely pretext - psychopaths tend to use whatever is
