Here's another testimony of a New Ager who confronted Christ in
a personal way to him, that totally changed his entire world-
view and direction in life:

You need to research "confirmation bias" Rick then you will realize the
truth: you were joining imaginary dots between your dream and the
contradictory bullshit you were reading in the Bible: this cognitive bias
resulted in a snowball effect: anything that self reinforced the idea that
the dream was something more than a dream you assumed to be true rather
than you applying error-free inductive reasoning to the situation which
was that the dream was just a dream and that the Bible is little more than
a beginner's guide to psychosis.

Here's another testimony of someone who grew up in the LDS church.
Very moving around 15:00 or so:

Why I Left The Mormon Church and How Jesus Changed My Life
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RRycvv55A-4

Her religion had taught her various things, but it never showed
her the love of Jesus Christ. She was always empty, hollow, and
when she heard of Jesus she was drawn in by even two Bible verses
she heard.

Those who are being saved hear the voice of Jesus when He speaks
to them. It moves you from the inside to such an extent. She
also states it's not a religion around 18:00 or so. Very moving.

Another testimony of how Jesus changed this young woman's life:

My Testimony of How God Changed My Life!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-yV032FxFEA

She thought she was saved from a young age, but there was some-
thing inside her that still questioned. She felt conviction in
her heart over her behavior on a certain thing, and it solidified
her realization that she was not saved.

Coming to Jesus is a real thing. It's a drawing by God to Him so
you can have your sin forgiven. It moves you spiritually, which
is to say it moves you like nothing else. Your flesh is over-
whelmed, but there is whole separate layer of the spiritual com-
ponent that just illuminates and enthralls your soul like noth-
ing else.

A testimony of an atheist who fell in love with Jesus:

How I--An Atheist--Fell In Love With Jesus

She also was looking to study the Bible so she could disprove it.
She had that same softening effect I did when she began studying
the Bible, as when I began studying the Bible with my co-worker.
It was hard on her marriage. Her husband is not a believer, and
it's a struggle.

Is there a DNA in the universe that can behave in an n-ary fashion?
2-ary is part of n-ary... ;)

Testimony of two who used to be "Ghost Hunters" who became born
again Christians. Around 7:00 they start talking about the spirit
nature, and the way God speaks to you on the inside in a way you
just know things without having studied or learned it through your
mind, as it comes through your spirit:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o85AU3_lNak

She also talks about how there are two places, the first is a place
of waiting until judgment day, and it's different from the lake of
fire.

They identify demons are the spirits in the world, and that there
are not "good spirits" and "bad spirits," but only demons.

At around 13:30 she talks about seeing what she thought was a
raccoon, but it wasn't really there it just seemed to be.

That type of spiritual attack is something I've experienced
one time. It was one night after a Bible Study at my old
church. I was in the street speaking to one of the fellow
Bible Study goers, and this man with a limp was walking down
the street. He looked scary and as he was about 1/4 block
away this thing like a dog came charging at me and scared me
terribly, but then it was gone.

Evil spirits have no power. They can only tempt. They can
only make you believe or feel or they can inject you with
thoughts and feelings and emotions they know will get you
to move, but YOU ARE THE ONE with the power, because God
has given you that authority and right.

It's because of who He is, who we are (made in His own image
and likeness).

We are truly remarkable creations, but it is Satan who tries
to make us think we are only our bodies here in this world,
and that God didn't create the universe and that it just hap-
pened from nothing (the Big Bang), and that we are all some
kind of great cosmic accident, and that there are multi-verses,
and that this universe is nothing special, etc., etc., etc.,
etc.

All of it is a lie designed to keep you away from God. Those
teachings are designed to move you away from the truth, from
the true knowledge that God loves you, has created a special
place in Heaven for you, that it is only sin that keeps us
here trapped and bound up in our deception, which is why He
came here to rescue us where we are in our sin, so that He
could make a way back for us.

All who put their faith in Christ will never be put to shame.
The enemy loses all power over them. They are forever forgiven,
part of His Kingdom, and are going to be with Him once our time
on this Earth is through.

No mind has conceived the things God has in store for those who
are redeemed. It's called "paradise" by Earthly standards, but
it is the dominion of God natively ... so how "pardise-intense"
would such a paradise be? And He calls us to be a part of that
Kingdom of His, with Him and all He has. For free.

God calls us to post things that uplift, edify, grow, increase,
that focus on the positive things:

https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Philippians+4%3A8&version=KJV

8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever
things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever
things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever
things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if
there be any praise, think on these things.

Notice it says "if there be any virtue" there, Chris.

The enemy seeks to tear down. God seeks to restore and build up.

Possibly repeating what have been said by others, here or
elsewhere:

I try to put the following books in an order that starts at
the most beginner friendly and then gets to the more
advanced topics.

A total beginner should read:

|Programming: Principles and Practice Using C++
|Bjarne Stroustrup

. Like in the case of all books mentioned, readers always
should try to get the very latest edition.

A reader with either preknowledge or a high learning speed
or someone who has read the above book, might read:

|C++ primer
|Barbara Moo et al.
|5th ed or newer

and/or

|Accelerated C++
|Barbara Moo et al.

Preferably the primer, because Accelerated C++ is getting old.
"Read" here includes doing many of the exercises, so "reading"
one of those books in this sense might take many weeks or even
a year.

There is another book called "C++ primer", so take care to get
the one with Moo!

Then, of course, one also can read

|The C++ programming language
|Bjarne Stroustrup
|4th edition or newer

and/or

|A Tour of C++
|Bjarne Stroustrup
|2014 or newer

. One may read:

|The design of C++
|Bjarne Stroustrup

if one wishes to know more about the history and the FAQ
from Stroustrup's Homepage.

Now, come the style guides:

|The C++ core guidelines
|Bjarne Stroustrup et al

This is in the web, I always try to find a copy where
someone has turned the md into a pdf for reading. It
probably is the most current of all the texts mentioned
here. Having the guidelines, the older "C++ Coding
Standards" by Sutter et al. now are less important and
comparatively old.

Then, there are the two famous series "Exceptional C++" by
Sutter and "Effective C++/STL" (including "Effective Modern
C++") by Meyers. Both are getting old and contain some
outdated parts, which can be confusing for beginners.
But they also contain some very valuable discussions.
Where else can one learn about exception safety?
And one /must/ learn about exception safety!
So, probably they are still must-reads.

A learner also might wish to consult a book on template
programming and/or template meta programming. I have no
special recommendation, but "Modern C++-Design" by
Alexandrescu probably would be only the second book on
templates to read, not the first one!

If you live in Berlin and happen to speak German, you also
might visit C++ courses in one of Berlin's community colleges
("Volkshochschulen"). There, you might meet me as one of the
instructors. However, the interest in C++ courses is
declining, so they are offered less frequently nowadays.

Some changes in the language, even concern beginners. For
example, in modern C++, one might write:

auto i { 14'278.389 };

, but this combination of »auto« and braces is only possible
since C++14 and should be shown only in a minority of the
books which always lag behind.
